Exam Results

Most students will receive two emails after they take one of our exams:

  1. The first is an automated email sent from the testing system as soon as you finish your exam. This gives you the exam results and also provides proof that you took the exam. Please read it thoroughly to see if you also need to schedule an in-person oral assessment or not. (Some exam results will say "Placement" at the top, even if you took a Proficiency exam. See footnote below** for more info)
  2. The second email will come between 1 and 5 days later. It is sent after your exam result has been entered into the UC Davis Language Center Results Database. This email lets you know that your results are now officially in the UC Davis system, and that they are visible to the Dean's office and all of the Academic Advisors. (The second email also has a link directing you to this page, in case you need help interpreting your results).

More information:

  • The registrar's office does not upload Placement exams to MyDegree, but it does upload Proficiency Exam Results (Placement tests just tell you what class to take, proficiencies are in-person, supervised tests that can fulfill the language requirement). It takes about a week for those to show up.
  • If you took an exam that you had to pay for, that was special ordered through the BYU Flats program: Our database uses the following notation "Language 21" or "Language 021" means you demonstrated 15 quarter units worth of knowledge and fulfilled the Letters and Science Foreign Language Requirement. "Language 23" or "Language 023" means you demonstrated 5 to 6 quarters worth of knowledge (which is as high as that exam measures).

*If your exam was in French, German, Spanish, or Russian, you can log back in to Emmersion and see your placement and results again here: Emmersion Language Exam Existing User.

**If the "Comments" section of your second email says, "Not Proctored" then your exam has been recorded as a placement exam only. If it does not have that notation in the Comments section, then your score has been entered as a proficiency exam.

For other exams, there is class placement information in the original results email that you received.
