Have you ever struggled to teach writing to students in a second language who struggle with writing in their first language? Then join us for a workshop designed for graduate students interested in teaching writing in a foreign language! The workshop will explore the pedagogical techniques useful to teaching writing to foreign language learners. In this context, we will address challenges related to how to engage students in the writing process, how to inform students about structure without being too methodical, and how to overcome differences in syntax. A language faculty member (Megan McMullan), a graduate student in Spanish (Eric Jensen), and a faculty member from the writing center (Kelly Crosby) will each share their unique perspectives, successes, and challenges. The second half of the workshop will be devoted to questions and discussion. Come for some refreshments and share your interesting thoughts and ideas about how to improve the writing process for students!
