Welcome to the DLC's New Blog!

Welcome to the DLC's New Blog!

Welcome to the Davis Language Center’s blog, Language Matters! This year our theme at the Center shares the same title, and we hope that this space serves to facilitate conversations surrounding all matters related to language: learning, teaching, scholarship, and advocacy. Regarding advocacy, the double meaning of our blog and theme should, too, help to encourage discussions on the value of language for the UC Davis community.

We invite undergraduates, graduates, visiting scholars, instructors, faculty, administrators, and alumni to participate in the conversation by submitting an entry to our community-driven blog, to be published on every other Wednesday. If you are interested in sharing your experiences, perspectives or projects concerning language learning, teaching, scholarship, or advocacy, please see the submission guidelines on the right hand column under Submissions.

We hope you consider contributing and following others’ contributions. This way, we can stay connected beyond our own departments or programs—Spanish, French, Chinese, English, Russian, etc.—including the ways languages play a role across disciplines.

You can always visit the blog tab of our website to read new posts, but we will be distributing new entries through e-mail and our Facebook page, so consider following us if you are not already!

Thank you!
